Andrea was a partner of Allens, a leading Australian law firm, in its Sydney office from 2000 to 2020. Andrea led the firm’s arbitration group for over 15 years prior to his retirement from Allens in 2020, when he moved to London.
From 2012 until his retirement Andrea was recognised as a leading arbitration practitioner in Australia by independent reference sources including Chambers Global, Legal 500, Doyles Guide and Best Lawyers.
Andrea’s experience is broad with strong depth in the building and construction and energy and infrastructure sectors.

Acting for a major international oil company in an ICC arbitration seated in Perth concerning high value disputes arising in the construction of a $US40 billion offshore LNG facility (2017 to 2020)
Acting for a gas pipeline operator in Indonesia in an arbitration seated in London under the UNCITRAL rules, in respect of a high value dispute under a Gas Transportation Agreement (2014 to 2016)
Acting in a SIAC arbitration concerning a range of disputes arising in the construction of a major oil and gas infrastructure project in Asia
Acting for a major international hotel operator in an ICC arbitration based in Singapore in relation to disputes arising under agreements for hotel developments in India
Acting as an arbitrator in respect of a domestic arbitration concerning the design and construction of a cold storage facility in Melbourne
Acting for an oil and gas joint venture in a SIAC arbitration concerning variations, delays and defects in the construction of a FSO facility in Vietnam
Acting for the gas wholesale buyer in several gas price arbitrations under high volume, long-term agreements for the supply of gas in Eastern Australia.
Andrea has been actively involved for over 20 years in the international arbitration community both in Australia and abroad. Some of the roles he has assumed have included the following:
Board member of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration from 2003 to present, including acting as Vice President from 2016 until prior to his leaving Australia in 2020
Executive Director and Marketing Director for the organising committee for ICCA Sydney 2018. In this role Andrea worked with other ACICA executives to prepare and plan for the 2018 ICCA conference held in Sydney, of which his firm was a Foundation Sponsor
